Various thoughts I have in the woods

When I'm walking and see something that seems special, I like to stop and thank it. Maybe for its resiliance, or beauty, or because I imagine something cool or old lives inside of it. Sometimes I like to thank mundane things, too. They shouldn't be left out.
I'm not sure I truly believe in the idea of shinto, or everything having a spirit. But I think this practice makes me a more thankful, mindful person.
I picked this up mostly from reading Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. It's a book that affected my life in a lot of meaningful ways, but this idea of paying attention to the spirit of all objects is one of the biggest.
